DRS Laundry - Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to DRS Laundry. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our website, mobile services, and laundry pickup and delivery services ("Services"). By using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services .

DRS Laundry operates as a virtual laundromat, connecting customers with professional laundry processing and independent courier partners for pickup and delivery .

2. Definitions

• "We," "Us," "Our" – DRS Laundry and its authorized representatives.

• "You," "Your," "Customer" – The person using our Services.

• "Services" – Laundry pickup, processing, and delivery as described on our website.

• "Order" – A request for Services submitted through our website, WhatsApp, or booking system.

• "Laundromat Partner" – Third-party facility where your laundry is processed.

• "Courier Partner" – Third-party provider responsible for pickup and delivery.

• "Tag Number" – Unique identifier assigned to your laundry bag for tracking.

3. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing our website, messaging our WhatsApp business account, or placing an order, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms .

You must be at least 18 years old or have legal authority to enter into this agreement .

4. Our Services

DRS Laundry provides pickup, professional washing, drying, folding, and delivery services for laundry items .

We reserve the right to:

• Refuse service to any customer for any reason 

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue any service at any time without notice 

• Update these Terms at any time, with changes posted on our website 

5. Customer Responsibilities

5.1 Accurate Information
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when placing an order, including your name, contact details, pickup address, and any special instructions .

5.2 Item Preparation
Before handing over your laundry, you must :

• Check all pockets and remove any items (tissues, pens, money, jewelry, etc.)

• Secure delicate items

• Empty all liquids from containers

• Inform us of any specific stains or special care requirements

5.3 Pickup and Delivery Access
You are responsible for ensuring someone is available to hand over laundry at pickup and receive it at delivery . If you request unattended pickup or delivery (e.g., leaving items at your door), you do so at your own risk .

6. Prohibited Items

DO NOT include the following items in your laundry :

• Cash, jewelry, valuables, or sentimental items

• Hazardous materials (bleach containers, flammables, chemicals)

• Items with pests, mold, or bodily fluids

• Dry-clean-only garments

• Leather, suede, fur, or items with delicate embellishments

• Items stained with hazardous substances

We are not liable for any loss or damage to prohibited items .

7. Ordering, Pickup, and Delivery

7.1 Placing an Order
Orders can be placed through our website, WhatsApp, or booking system . You will select a preferred pickup date and time window.

7.2 Pickup Process
Our courier partner will collect your laundry during the scheduled window. Items become our responsibility once picked up . You will receive confirmation when pickup is complete.

7.3 Weighing and Processing
Your laundry will be weighed at our partner laundromat. The final weight determines the actual charge for your order .

7.4 Delivery
Clean laundry will be delivered to your specified address. Items are no longer under our responsibility once delivered to the agreed location .

7.5 Turnaround Time
Standard turnaround is 24-48 hours from pickup. Delays may occur for:

• Orders exceeding 15 KG 

• Items requiring special stain treatment 

• Circumstances beyond our control (weather, equipment failure, etc.) 

8. Pricing and Payment

8.1 Pricing Model
Our standard rate is a minimum charge of 8KG for each service .

8.2 Order Estimates vs. Final Charges
When you book, you pay for the minimum amount of 8KG. 

After your laundry is weighed, we charge the exact final amount based on actual weight. You will receive notification of the final weight and charge before delivery .

8.3 Additional Charges
The following may incur additional fees :

• Items requiring special stain treatment

• Bulky items (comforters, blankets, etc.)

• Express/rush service

• Missed pickup/delivery appointments

• Rescheduling within 6 hours of scheduled time

8.4 Payment Methods
We accept all major credit/debit cards and digital payments through our secure payment gateway . Payment must be completed before delivery .

8.5 Price Changes
Prices are subject to change without notice. However, you will be charged based on the rates in effect at the time of your order .

9. Cancellations and Refunds

9.1 Cancellation by Customer

• Orders canceled at least 6 hours before scheduled pickup: Full refund 

• Orders canceled within 6 hours of pickup: May incur a cancellation fee equal to 80% of the minimum order value or courier dispatch cost 

• Once items have been collected, no cancellation is allowed 

9.2 Cancellation by Us
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule orders due to equipment failure, weather, or other circumstances beyond our control. We will notify you as soon as possible .

9.3 Refund Processing
Approved refunds will be processed within 7-10 business days to the original payment method .

10. Liability for Lost or Damaged Items

10.1 General Liability
We take reasonable care in processing your laundry . However, we are not liable for :

• Normal wear and tear

• Shrinking, fading, or color bleeding resulting from standard washing procedures

• Damage due to defective or weak fabric

• Items without care labels or items treated according to provided care labels

• Items left in pockets

• Pre-existing conditions or stains

• Damage from insects, fire, flood, acts of God, or other causes beyond our control

10.2 Reporting Damage or Loss
Any claim for loss or damage must be reported within 12 hours of delivery . Claims made after this period may not be accepted.

10.3 Limitation of Liability
In the rare event that your garment is lost or damaged by us, our liability is limited as follows :

• We will issue a refund or credit for the value of the garment, taking into account:

  • The average life of the garment

  • Depreciation for the age of the item

  • Current replacement costs

• Maximum liability per item: 1 times the service charge for that specific item 

• Maximum liability per order: The total amount paid for the order 

10.4 Documentation
If you are unable to document the age of a garment, we may, in our sole discretion, deem the item to be at least one year old for depreciation purposes .

11. Unclaimed Items

If your laundry is not claimed within 7 of the delivery date :

• We may donate, dispose of, or sell unclaimed items

• We are not responsible for any loss occasioned by such disposition

• Any proceeds from sale may be kept by us to offset storage and administrative costs

12. Missed Appointments and Rescheduling

12.1 Missed Pickup/Delivery by Customer
If you are not available during the scheduled window without prior notice :

• A missed appointment fee may be charged

• We will work with you to reschedule

12.2 Changes and Rescheduling

• You may reschedule up to 6 hours before the scheduled time without penalty 

• Rescheduling within 6 hours may incur a fee

13. Accuracy of Information

The quantity and details provided during ordering are for reference only. The final invoice prepared after inspection at our facility is binding . We may photograph items for reference in case of disputes .

14. Independent Contractors

Our courier and laundromat partners are independent contractors, not employees or agents of DRS Laundry . We facilitate the service but are not responsible for their independent acts or omissions, subject to our liability limitations above.

15. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information .

16. Intellectual Property

All content on our website (text, logos, images) is owned by or licensed to DRS Laundry. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify it without our written permission .

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated effective date . Your continued use of our Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms .

18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

18.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of South Africa.

18.2 Dispute Resolution
We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any issues. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cape Town

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect .
